3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER TO KEEP YOUR BODY AND SKIN HEALTHY AND HYDRATED!
We all need water to survive – without it, our bodies would stop working properly. This is because the blood in your body which contains a lot of water, distributes essential oxygen to all the cells in your body. Water is also vital to our bodies because it not only helps you fight off illness, it gives a helping hand to your digestion whilst eating and flushes out toxins and waste products from the body. By flushing out all these toxins from your body, it is actually moisterizing your skin from the inside out.
  • You will get most of the water you require not only from drinking water and other liquids, but also from eating fruits and vegetables with a high water content (like peaches, plums, melons, tomatoes, and eggplant!)

  • Be sure to keep a bottle of water in your bag in hot weather or when you’re out playing sports, as you will need more than your usual water levels to keep your body hydrated and happy. If you’re bored with drinking plain water, simply add a drop or two of some of your favourite syrup into it, or better yet, some slices of fresh lemons/limes for an instant taste boost.

  • An important tip is to remember that if you’re going out to play a sport or work out – drink water before, during, and after playing.

Your body can actually help you regulate the amount of water in your system by holding on to water when you don’t have enough or getting rid of it if you have too much! For example if your pee has ever been very light yellow, your body is getting rid of excess whereas if your pee is very dark yellow, it’s holding on to water, and it’s time to drink up!

2  – EAT LESS WHITE BREAD AND SUGAR

As surprising as it may seem to some people, too much white bread is in fact bad for you. The reason for this is because once flour is refined or the wheat grains are broken down to manufacture the flour used to make white bread, it loses its rich essential fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc.

Whole grain bread is better for you because the fiber and protein it contains  helps you stay full longer, thus preventing overeating. So you know what to reach for in the bread aisle the next time you’re out at the supermarket! If buying packaged bread, be sure the label says “whole grain” or “whole wheat.”

Sugar us also a big no-no. Find other ways to get your sugar fix, like eating more fruit instead. Avoid overloading, and if you really must – have a piece of chocolate instead of the whole bar! Another good tip is when you want to sweeten a drink, you can use sugar – but  dissolve it in warm water first. What this does is, it cuts down the amount of sugar you need to achieve the desired sweetness.

Introducing Heidi’s Top 20 Lifestyle Beauty Tips!

1.    EAT MORE RAW FOODS -  FRESH FRUIT, VEGETABLES & GREENS

Raw food is one of the healthiest things you can consume: this can take the form of vegetables, fruits, seeds, sprouts, legumes (beans), nuts, and seaweed. Eating more raw food means healthier digestion, a stronger immune system, brighter complexion, greater energy levels, and a lower risk of cancer and heart disease.

  • Just like you have to warm up before an exercise routine, you should warm up before introducing a new dietary lifestyle. Start by incorporating a few raw foods into your diet each day and attempt to eat whatever veggies and fruits in season.

  • Dust out the blender and keep those smoothies coming! You can start off every day with a homemade fruit smoothie. Just add strawberries, bananas, blueberries (whatever fruits you can find really) and even some flax seeds for fiber. Remember that it is also important to balance your diet by eating equal amounts of fruits and veggies, so try to consume more fruit in the morning or as an afternoon snack.

  • Raw food doesn’t have to be as boring as having a salad every day at lunch. Look up recipes and blogs for interesting and creative ideas. For example, you can add slivered almonds or avocados to any salad, which adds great taste and texture, as well as nutrients. You can also add more veggies like diced tomatoes, spinach, slivered carrots, and cucumbers into your sandwiches, wraps, and cold pasta salads. Drizzle with a vinaigrette or spicy peanut sauce for some extra punch. Yummy!

You have to remember that everybody is different, so learn what works for you – things that have worked for others
may not work for you. Most importantly, you are what you eat, so treat your body like it matters: after all, how can we look good without feeling good?
